SAMBOU DIOUF
Sambou Diouf was born in Dakar in 1975.
An unexpected meeting with the artist Solly Cissé will turn his life upside down and put him on the path to artistic work. He then enrolled at the national school of arts and left in 2011. He quickly participated in a first exhibition at the OFF of the DAKAR biennial in 2012.
A need to devote himself to research and the history of art pushed him to leave the artistic scene for four years.
When he reappeared in Dakar, he participated in group exhibitions organized by Eiffage and stood out for his style.
His works arouse a lot of interest and emotion.
Sambou then participated in several editions of Partcours and the power of his works allowed him to be selected to exhibit at the Senegal Pavilion during the 13th edition of the Dakar biennial.
Between 2018 and 2022, the artist participates in several collective and monographic exhibitions in Senegal and internationally, notably in the United States, Brussels, Paris, Amsterdam…
In 2022 he is once again selected to participate in the 14th edition of the Dakar Biennale for a collective exhibition at the Senegal pavilion.
Like a call from the depths of his soul, Sambou Diouf has this need to create, to paint, to sculpt... works which allow him to free himself from old demons and which fascinate visitors.
